DANIEL BINKOWSKI, DDS
General Dentist
Dr. Daniel Binkowski, also known as “Dr. B” by his patients, is a general dentist whose combination of 14 years of sedation experience and a diverse dental skillset allow for him to provide dental care for patients who cannot otherwise tolerate dental treatment in a traditional setting. While he practices all aspects of dentistry, from fillings to crowns, he is one of the few general dentists in the state of Iowa who can provide dental treatment under deep sedation. Working alongside Dan (CRNA), Dr. Chen, our team of hygienists, and ACLS trained expanded functions dental assistants, we make sure that you can sleep comfortably knowing that your dental work will be done by the time you wake up.His goal is to provide the highest level of comfort and care for patients.
Dr. Binkowski graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry, after receiving an Air Force Health Professions scholarship. He continued his education during his active duty in the Air Force from 2011 to 2015, where he was commissioned as a captain. He spent an extra year learning clinical procedures from several board-certified specialists in the Air Force’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Offutt AFB in Omaha. He was ranked one of the top residents in his class for his clinical ability and treatment planning capabilities, as well as treating multidisciplinary complex dental cases. After, he volunteered for an assignment at a clinic in Eielson AFB in Alaska, where he provided a variety of dental services to the active duty population, such as the removal of fully impacted wisdom teeth, periodontal surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics and IV sedation. Following his training, he has completed numerous hours of continuing education in the areas of IV sedation anesthesia.
SOPHIA CHEN, DDS
General Dentist
Dr. Sophia Chen is a general dentist with extensive training in CEREC and digital dentistry. She works alongside Dr. Binkowski with complex cases that require designing of esthetic, highly functional, long lasting restorations for our sedation patients. This teamwork allows us to complete more treatment in your visit when comparing to a sole provider, thus making your sedation appointment highly efficient as we utilize every minute of your sedation time.
Dr. Chen graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics in 2018. During her dental school training, she has been very involved with the Dental Public Health Club and received a distinction in Dental Public Health upon graduation. Like Dr. Binkowski, Dr. Chen engages in many hours of continuing education each year to provide the best care to her patients and was awarded a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 2022, a distinction that is held by only 84 dentists in the state of Iowa and only about 6% of general dentists achieve. Dr. Chen is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Fort Dodge District Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and is involved in the CEREC mentor group. She currently serves in leadership positions at the Iowa Academy of General Dentistry.
DAN LENZ, CRNA
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Dan has been a CRNA for almost 20 years with extensive knowledge and experience involving all forms anesthesia from pain management to full General Anesthesia, both inside and outside a hospital. His significant breadth and depth of experience in recognizing and managing sedation complications and emergencies far surpasses any dental provider in the State of Iowa performing their own anesthesia on their own patients while they also perform the dental procedures themselves. He has been an integral part of the treatment team at Iowa Sedation Dentistry, ensuring each patient receives the absolute safest and very best office-based anesthesia that can be provided outside an operating room without the need for narcotics.
